The Kick-Off meeting of our new Research & Innovation Horizon Europe Project PRecycling: Plastics Recycling from and for home appliances, toys and textile, took place on the 28th of April 2022. The hybrid meeting (both physical and virtual) was organized by the Coordinator Prof. Costas Charitidis – Professor in the School of Chemical Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and Director of the Laboratory of Advanced, Composite, Nano Materials & Nanotechnology (RNANO lab) – in the Library of NTUA.

PRecycling project aims to address the complex issue of measuring the recycled content which requires product tracing to the production source. More specific, PRecycling, during the next 48 months, aims to develop an easy-to-use methodology for sorting, sampling, tracing and recycling plastic waste streams, including detection and separation of legacy additives, along with standard analysis procedures for both plastic waste materials and recyclates (secondary raw materials) in order to produce consistently high quality, safe-to-use recyclates based on their degradation degree and added-value products with predicted lifetime.

During the Kick-Off meeting, the Coordinator gave an overview of the project, explained its objectives and the project partners had the opportunity to present their entities and their role in the project, in front of the EC Project Officer. Moreover, a detailed description of each Work Package took place by the Work Package leaders and discussion on the action plan for the next 6 months was held in order to successfully kick start the project and ensure its smooth implementation.

STRATAGEM is happy and proud to be a Partner of the project, leading the activities of the Work package which deals with “Ownership and engagement of the society, communication, dissemination and exploitation activities”. Within this Work Package, STRATAGEM except of coordinating and assisting all the work developed within each task, is going to lead the activities related to the Exploitation, Innovation management, Business Planning and Market analysis. Moreover, STRATAGEM will contribute and support the project’s activities relevant to the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) on circular value chains, Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and Techno-economic assessment, as well as Eco-design and Circular economy assessment.

We look forward to a successful collaboration with all PRecycling partners!

The PRecycling project has received funding from the Horizon Europe programme.
