The SCIMIN-CRM consortium met in Gothenburg on 22-23 September for its M24 Progress Meeting, marking the halfway point of the four-year project. Hosted by Chalmers University of Technology, the meeting brought together partners from across Europe to review progress over the first two years and plan the work ahead.

SCIMIN-CRM (Sustainable and Circular Production of Mineral Critical Raw Materials) aims to improve Europe’s access to raw materials by recovering critical and other valuable materials from mining waste facilities, with activities being demonstrated across pilot sites in Spain, Sweden, Austria, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

As leader of WP5 (Market Exploitation and Replication Strategy), STRATAGEM presented progress on the market and business side of the project, including the initial business models developed for the four pilot sites. Under WP10, STRATAGEM reported on progress in exploitation strategy and IPR management, including the identification and characterisation of the project’s exploitable results, as well as stakeholder engagement and clustering activities. These discussions also helped connect the project’s technical progress with its market and replication perspectives as work moves into the second half of the project.

We thank Chalmers University of Technology for hosting the meeting, ANEFA for coordinating the project, and all SCIMIN-CRM partners for the productive discussions and continued collaboration.
