The Kick off meeting of the H2020 Project Dig_IT (A Human-centred Internet of Things Platform for the Sustainable Digital Mine of the Future) took place on the 5th and 6th May 2020, organized by the coordinator of the project, the INSTITUTO TECNOLOGICO DE ARAGON (ITAINNOVA).

Dig_IT, with project number 869529, is funded under topic: SC5-09-2019 : New solutions for the sustainable production of raw materials of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme.

Dig_IT is addressing the needs of the mining industry to move forward towards a sustainable use of resources while keeping people and environment at the forefront of their priorities. The Dig_IT project will develop a smart Industrial Internet of Things platform (IIoTp) that will improve the efficiency and sustainability of mining operations by connecting cyber and physical systems. The platform will collect data from sensors at 3 levels: (i) human, (ii) assets, (iii) environment and will also incorporate both market real time and historical data.

The overall project has a budget of 7M€ funded by the European Commission (H2020 – Grant Agreement number: 869529). The consortium which will implement the project is comprised by 16 Partners from 9 Countries (Spain, Italy, Finland, Norway, UK, Greece, Germany Cyprus, Belgium). The partners of the project will work together for 48 months for the successful implementation and delivery of the project.

STRATAGEM is proud to be part of the high quality consortium of the project and partner in this very interesting project which will assist in bringing the evolution in the mining sector. STRATAGEM will offer its expertise in the development of the Intelligence layer of the IIoTP, offering inpus and data from Sustainability Assessments related to the IIoTP and the mining operations. Moreover STRATAGEM will lead the efforts for the Academy, Workplace and Society Outreach of the project.

During the kick off meeting all issues related to the commencement, management, finance and technicalities of the Dig-IT project were presented and discussed. Key focal points were the technologies to be used, specifications methodologies, end-users requirements and industrial scenarios for the implementation of project results. The partners engaged in technical discussions during the two days and committed in the project tasks foreseen in the Grant Agreement.

THIS PROJECT HAS RECEIVED FUNDING FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION’S HORIZON 2020 RESEARCH AND INNOVATION PROGRAMME UNDER GRANT AGREEMENT NO 869529.
