The SCIMIN-CRM project has officially commenced with a meeting that took place at the University of Oviedo, Spain, on October 1-2, 2024 successfully bringing together partners from 10 countries and 21 institutions. Funded by the European Commission and led by ANEFA, SCIMIN-CRM focuses on promoting sustainable mining practices, circular economy principles, and reducing Europe’s dependency on foreign critical raw materials.

On the first day, each Work Package leader, including STRATAGEM, presented their expertise and contributions to the project. STRATAGEM, as the leader of Work Package 5, is responsible for developing and implementing the market exploitation strategy, ultimately aiming to unlock the potential of Mining Waste Facilities (MWFs) across Europe. In addition, STRATAGEM will lead stakeholder engagement and clustering activities to build a solid collaboration network in support of the long-term success of the project.

The second day featured a visit to Mina Ana, a fluorite mining operation in Asturias, one of the pilot cases of the project. SCIMIN-CRM aims to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of mining, providing practical insights into the project’s impact on extractive operations.
